EUREKA Cycling Club staged a forty-five-kilometre handicap around the Mount Misery circuit on Sunday, 27 February.

Racing conditions were near perfect, with plenty of cloud cover and a faint easterly breeze.

Fast times were the order of the day, however most bunches encountered livestock across the road, which at times brought the race to a halt.

Keen racing saw the seven-minute group take the race lead with five kilometres remaining.

Darryn Reed dragged an eight strong group over the Weatherboard climb and onto the homestraight.

While Steve Linane attempted a valiant solo attack inside the last two kilometres, he was caught in the shadows of the post and Steven Crowe proved fastest in the bunch sprint.

Mount Misery 45km handicap results – 1st – Steven Crowe (7 min), 2nd – Peter Canny (7 min), 3rd – Wayne Klauss (7 min), 4th – Darryn Reed (7 min), 5th – Glen Ford (7 min).

Fastest Time: Shane Clarke (Scratch) in 1h 8m, ave. 39.4kph.
