FINALS footy is back on the agenda of East Point, recording there first back-to-back victories for the season last Saturday in a strong thirty-two-point victory over the star-studded Ballarat Swans in McDonalds Ballarat Football League action.

Picture perfect conditions at the Eastern Oval gave spectators a treat for tight footy action with Jake Bridges men making the most of their opportunities going forward.

Ballarat welcomed back stars Josh Gibson and Andrew Hooper and the former’s role was essentially the quarterback across his side’s defensive half, while the latter played out of the goal square at the other end, giving the Swans a better spine and structure.

The opening terms saw a seesawing affair with the home side taking a slender lead into the first break with a Bryson McDougall goal after the siren despite the Swannies controlling possession.

But after that it was one-way traffic with the Kangas kicking seven goals in a row in as many minutes to take full advantage in the contest.

Despite the lead being pegged back by the Swans mid-way through the second term it was carbon copy of the first quarter with the Pointers getting late goals to sap any momentum out of the contest.

For East Point it was a familiar sight with the Johnston Brothers the catalyst in victory with captain Matt dominate in the midfield and Jordan bagging six majors in a best on ground performance inside forward 50.

Looking ahead East Point host Bacchus Marsh in another game where the Kangas can put a bit of separation between them another side who is knocking on the door of finals football despite suffering a shock one-point loss on the weekend to Melton South.

For Ballarat, off the back of two losses on the trot they make the trip down the highway to take on the Darley, and they will need to bring their A game with them as the are Devils in red hot form sitting second on the ladder.
