RIDERS enjoyed cool and sunny conditions at Learmonth for round six of Eureka Cycling Club’s Europa Cafe Winter Aggregate Race Series on Sunday, 1 August.

Peter Lamb and Peter Livitsanis made the most of their 14-minute handicap mark and set about systematically reeling the out markers in, while their co-marker – Craig Jenkins – threw caution to the wind and rode off from them with 30 kilometres remaining.

The trio re-united five kilometres from the finish line, just in time to take the race lead from Danny Whelan and Sharon Boyd as they crested the final hill.

The three groups chasing the race leaders only caught a glimpse of them – when it was all too late – leaving the five riders out front to enjoy a sprint finish, where Lamb proved too strong.

Riding from scratch, Shane Clarke achieved fastest time of the day.

Race results, 45-kilometreMount Misery handicap: 1st – Peter Lamb (14 min), 2nd – Peter Livitsanis (14 min), 3rd – Sharon Boyd (18 min), 4th – Craig Jenkins (14 min), 5th – Danny Whelan (18 min). Fastest Time – Shane Clarke (scratch) in 1h 8m 30s, ave. 39.2kph.
