AFTER more than six years as manager at the Ballarat Turf Club, Dylan O’Neill is handing over the reins to the current assistant track manager Nick Stubbs.

During his tenure Mr O’Neill has been involved in various developments at the club including drainage works in the home straight, stable developments and the build of the all-weather Polytrack race surface.

As manager he’s overseen more than 170 race meetings including six Ballarat Cups and been part of big growth in the training centre with horse numbers rising exponentially since 2014.

Having worked closely with Mr O’Neill both in Ballarat and Wodonga, where he completed his Sports Turf Management apprenticeship, Mr Stubbs is set to transition into the managerial role later this year.

Ballarat Turf Club CEO Belinda Glass said while the organisation is sad to see Mr O’Neill move on, they’re grateful for his work.

“We will Dylan well as he embarks on an opportunity to work within his family business,” she said.

“He’s worked so hard as part of the team at Ballarat and contributed to the growth at our racecourse and training centre in recent years.

“It is an exciting opportunity for Nick and the club supports this transition wholeheartedly.”

Working alongside Mr O’Neill in the role of racecourse manager until mid-December, Mr Stubbs will then resume the position after the track renovation which follows the annual Sportsbet Ballarat Cup.
