BALLARAT Football Club is experiencing a renaissance as they enter the 2019 Ballarat Football League season.

The Swans have a fresh leadership group and coaching panel, have recruited some new, but experienced players, and the club holds a desire to embrace different ideas and playing styles.

Senior Assistant Coach, Andrew Hooper said recruiting varying “statures” of experience has been important.

“As a club, we’ve probably only won eight games in the last four years, so it’s important that we’ve started fresh with this new coach, Joe Carmody, and myself jumping on board,” he said.

“Bringing in those fresh ideas and all these new guys, we’re really working on that.”

The season goal is to be competitive against the BFL’s top sides and play finals footy.

The senior team hoping to do this includes captains Daniel Kennedy and Nick O’Farrell, with five vice-captains for support, Keegan Mellington, Ben Hobbs, Mitch Martin, Sam Jones and Will Garner.

“We expect every player is a leader in some way,” Mr Hooper said.
