IF the Western Bulldogs were to secure a top two finish – should they host a home qualifying final at Marvel Stadium?

The Bulldogs leapfrogged Melbourne into top spot on the ladder after demolishing St Kilda by 111 points on Saturday night.

Kane Cornes believes the Dogs should request to host a home final at Marvel Stadium if they finish first or second, given how dominant they are at the venue.

Luke Beveridge’s side have won all five games at Marvel this season, averaging 127.2 points per match.

“If they finish top two, they just have to request their first home final to be at Marvel [Stadium],” Cornes told AFL Media’s The Round So Far.

“I hope that happens and I hope the AFL accommodate them for that because they play that ground better than any team plays any ground in the competition.

“It’s unbelievable how dangerous they are.”

Cornes was particularly impressed by the Bulldogs’ defensive pressure in their ruthless win over the Saints.

“It was the performance of the year. Look at how ferocious they were,” he said.

“When we think of the Dogs, we think handball, flick it around, nice and pretty, beautiful ball users – but it’s not that.

“All of their guns get plenty of the footy and they’re superstars of the game, but they’re all willing to put their head down and do the defensive acts.

“Their tackling tonight (Saturday) was as good as I’ve seen.”

The Bulldogs now turn their attention to a top-of-the-table blockbuster against second-placed Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
