RIDERS endured foggy conditions for round six of the Winter Aggregate Race Series at Learmonth on Sunday, 24 July.

Light entries saw the field split into just three groups for the 45-kilometre handicap on the Mount Ercildoune circuit.

Setting off with a mark of 19 minutes, Renee Clapham, Geoff Edwards and Dennis Shaw had newfound confidence with the welcome fire power of Danny Whelan.

The quartet rode off into the mist… and weren’t seen again!

The next group – Stu Brien, Tony Mirabella, Darryn Reed and Dean Wells – went off at five minutes.

Scratch was the smallest group of the day with Ash Braszell, Jason Hendry and Dayne Pearce joining forces in this round of the W.A.R.S.

Edwards won his maiden handicap with Eureka after attacking the limit riders with just 800 metres remaining – racing away to a comfortable 75-metre victory.

Shaw and Whelan fought out the minor placings, with Clapham a brave fourth and just ahead of the fast-finishing five-minute group.

W.A.R.S. round 6 results – 1st – Geoff Edwards (19 min), 2nd – Dennis Shaw (19 min), 3rd – Danny Whelan (19 min), 4th – Renee Clapham (19 min), 5th – Dean Wells (5 min)

Fastest Time – Dayne Pearce (scratch) in 1h 10m, ave. 38.5kph.
