WOADY Yaloak Football Netball Club’s annual come-and-try day is again set to offer children the opportunity to have a go at footy and netball, to see if they’d like to join the Warriors community.

Girls and boys between seven and eleven will be able to get a taste for both the Auskick and NetSetGo programs, the Club’s Ballarat Junior Football Netball League under nine and under 11 footy teams, and 9 and under netball.

Warriors junior coordinator Mark Ashmore said many simple and fun activities will be run by volunteer coaches with plenty of experience.

“The kids will learn the basic skills of the games. For footy, we’ll get out the tackle bag and specky mat which they really enjoy,” he said.

“I’ll be available to answer any questions from parents regarding registration as well. Registrations have only just opened but they’ve been really positive so far.

“We expect registrations will be at 90 percent by the come-and-try morning. We’re really looking forward to getting some buzz back around the club.”

Woady Yaloak will have two under nine teams, and an under 11 team in the BJFNL comp this year. Whether an under 9s BJFNL netball fixture will run in 2022 is yet to be confirmed.

The Warriors will cook up a free barbecue, and have drinks on offer, providing a relaxing atmosphere for new families to mix and mingle.

“As a young start-up club, we’re really lucky. Our environment is welcoming, and we don’t have any cliques that you can find in older club,” Mr Ashmore said.

“Families can put in as much or as little as they like.”

Woady Yaloak FNC’s come-and-try morning will be held on Sunday, 27 February at the Woady Recreation Reserve, Smythesdale from 10am to 12pm. Contact Mr Ashmore for more information at 0413 918 407.
