MUSIC In the Valley will celebrate the Main Arm hinterland’s female musicians when it returns to Main Arm Upper Public School on November 2.

The free, family-friendly festival will feature ARIA country chart-topper Emily Lubitz, Cassie Douglas from indie band Trouble of the Good, DJ Maytal, solo artist Orly Raquel, and Kate, lead singer of The Mullum All Stars.

Other performers include Spaghetti Circus, the Main Arm School Band, the Neighbourhood Choir and 14-year-old folk singer Lyric Moses, who recently made his debut at Brunswick Picture House.

Festival spokeswoman Tina Bazari said the event, organised by the school’s parent association, was a highlight for the community.

“The festival is a highlight for the Main Arm community and beyond. Folks come far and wide to revel in the high-calibre music, and soak up the wonderful vibes and entertainment,” she said.

“This year’s festival is particularly close to our hearts as the line-up features some of the matriarchs of Main Arm. Not only are they brilliant artists and forces to be reckoned with, they also have kids or grandkids at our school.”

Activities include an Ultimate Ninja Warrior obstacle course, the Tea Cup ride, sideshow alley, craft stalls, face painting and food.

The event will run from 11am to 4pm and is surrounded by forest at the foot of Mount Bogarem.

Entry is free, and the $5 Love Bus will operate from the Mullumbimby taxi rank on Stuart Street, leaving at 11.30am and returning at 4pm.

Music In the Valley is on Sunday, November 2 at Main Arm Upper Public School.
