NORTHERN Rivers community groups can apply for up to $15,000 from Essential Energy for environmentally sustainable initiatives.
Funding is aimed at community-based projects that support the environment, education and
resilience to progress towards greener energy.
Essential Energy is encouraging community facilities such as halls, sporting clubs and non-profit organisations to apply if they are seeking to kickstart their energy transition through electrification or the addition of solar panels.
The grant categories are environment initiatives that support a circular economy and waste reduction, habitat restoration or community gardens, energy transition to support projects such as solar panels or electrifying community buildings, and educational support for STEM education in schools or community organisations. Examples of funded projects include providing resources that support communities impacted by natural disasters.
The Essential Grants Program continues the previous Community Choices and Community Halls Program, which has distributed more than $1.1 million to 1560 community groups since 2018.
Charities, non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations and community groups or events are eligible to apply.
Applications close on Monday, March 31.
