RESIDENTS across the Lismore electorate are being encouraged to recognise inspiring women and girls through the 2027 NSW Women of the Year Awards, with nominations closing next month.
The NSW Women of the Year Awards recognise women and girls across the state who are making a positive impact in their communities.
Established in 2012, the annual awards celebrate women and girls whose determination, courage, skills and passion have inspired their communities and others to achieve positive change.
The awards highlight role models who challenge inequality, innovate and inspire through their work.
Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin said the awards provide an opportunity to celebrate women and girls making a difference through their leadership and community contributions.
“These awards are about honouring the women and girls who make a difference in their community through their courage and leadership and who inspire others,” Saffin said.
“I hope there are lots of nominations from across the Lismore electorate because we have many inspiring women and girls deserving of recognition.”
The awards feature six categories, including NSW Premier’s Woman of Excellence, NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year, NSW Community Hero, NSW Regional Woman of the Year, NSW Young Woman of the Year and Ones to Watch.
The Ones to Watch category recognises girls and young women aged 7 to 15 years who demonstrate qualities such as courage, strength, determination or kindness in supporting others, with nominations open to parents, carers and schoolteachers.
Nominations close on Thursday 13 August.
Award winners will be announced in March 2027 during NSW Women’s Week.
