THE Richmond Landcare group will highlight its river restoration and flood resilience work when it hosts a Science in the Pub event at South Lismore.

The River Restoration for Water Health & Flood Resilience seminar will be held at Two Mates Brewery on Thursday 16 July.

It will bring together local scientists, environmental experts and residents to explore the work being done to restore the Northern Rivers’ waterways.

The evening will showcase river rehabilitation projects underway across the Richmond River catchment and examine how nature-based solutions are improving water quality, strengthening ecosystems and helping communities better withstand future flood events.

A Richmond Landcare spokesperson said the event would highlight the growing importance of river restoration and showcase the work already making a difference across the region.

“The waterways of our catchment are under threat from a range of issues, but the good news is there is a lot of work being done to help restore their health,” the spokesperson said.

“This public event will shine a spotlight on the transformative river rehabilitation projects underway in our region, highlighting their positive impact on river health and the important role they play in increasing flood resilience.”

Established in 1998, Richmond Landcare is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation that supports Landcare groups and promotes best-practice land and water management throughout the Richmond River catchment.

The organisation works with local councils, environmental groups and the wider community to improve the health of the region’s landscapes and waterways.

There will be live music and entertainment at the event with tickets available at events.humanitix.com
