Tweed talent to kick-start NRLW career at the Parramatta Eels

RISING Tweed star Jasmin Morrissey could be on the cusp of a breakout rugby league season in 2026 after signing a two-year NRLW deal with the Parramatta Eels.

The 22-year-old has the chance to be the first Northern Rivers product to play for an NRLW Club outside of the Gold Coast Titans.

Morrissey played one game for the Titans last season and is known for her strength, speed and ability to break tackles at centre, fullback and wing.

She joins the Eels along with Jayde Herdegen, both have played at either junior state level or in the Prime Minsters XIII clash against Papua New Guinea.

“Jayde and Jasmin are outstanding young talents who will bolster the Eels’ backline and bring new energy to our squad,” Eels general manager of football Mark O’Neill said.

“Both athletes have already shown maturity and drive early in their careers, and we believe they will thrive in our system. We are excited to see what they can achieve in blue and gold.”

Only two years ago, Morrissey was playing ladies league tag for the Bilambil Jets in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League.

She also played with the Currumbin Eagles before moving up to the BMD competition with Tweed Seagulls in 2024.

Morrisey played alongside star Eels fullback Abbi Church in the Prime Minsters XIII clash two years ago.

Eels’ players Kennedy Cherrington, Cassey Tohi-Hiku, Taneka Todhunter and Rachel Pearson were all in the team and have come regular starters in the NRLW.

Meanwhile, Pheonix-Raine Hippi and Lily Patston, who both played at Ballina and Lismore, will be gearing up for another season at the Titans in 2026.

Hippi will likely get a spot on the wing after a breakout 2025 and having committed to the club for another two seasons.

The 19-year-old was a standout in the Prime Minsters XIII game in October; she scored a hat-trick and was among the teams’ best players.

“She’s only just beginning her career, but we know she has the ability and attitude to become one of the competition’s best outside backs,” Titans coach Karyn Murphy said.

Patston may come back through the BMD competition after a leg injury cut short her 2025 campaign after four games.
