HEATHCOTE will step back in time this weekend when the Shake, Rattle and Roll Vintage Caravan Group gathers at Queen Meadow Caravan Park.

Adding to the vintage vibe, Heathcote Cars, Coffee and Bikes hold their monthly meet-up along High Street on Sunday 13 October.

“We were really pleased when we realised we would be in the Heathcote on the same weekend as Cars, Coffee and Bikes,” said founding member Sandra Virgona.

“Our members are keen to look at all the cars and bikes and they are looking forward to seeing our vans.”

The Shake, Rattle and Roll Vintage Caravan Group was formed nine years ago and holds gatherings three times a year throughout various locations in Victoria. “There are similar groups in most states,” said Ms Virgona, and every two years there is national gathering with about 200 vans getting together for a whole week.

“Our first event was held in Anglesea, and we’ve been to Halls Gap and many other places. This will be the second time we’ve stayed in Heathcote.

“At this stage we have about 30 vans booked in to the caravan park.

“It is a lovely town with lots to see and do and the caravan park owners are always very welcoming.”

While in Heathcote the group will enjoy a welcome barbecue on Friday night and a cricket match on Saturday afternoon.

“One of our members, Raelene, always makes a beautiful hand-made quilt to raffle with money raised going towards the group’s running cost,” said Ms Virgona.

“The park owners have also donated a night’s accommodation.

“The raffle will be drawn on Saturday night after pancakes and sweets in the park kitchen.

“Our gatherings are fun social events, and anyone is welcome to join us.

“They can contact the caravan park to book in or call me for more information on 0418 337 215.”
