THE Heathcote community is invited to join with RSL members on Anzac Day to commemorate the service and sacrifice of servicemen and women.

Commemorations will begin with the 6am Dawn Service at Lone Pine Memorial on Camp Hill, followed by a gunfire breakfast at the RSL hall.

A commemoration service in the hall at 10am will feature guest speakers, local schools and official guests.

The Heathcote Wandering Minstrels and the Combined Primary Schools Choir will each pay tribute in song, and will then join for a special tribute in Auslan.

The wreath-laying ceremony will be held at 10.45am.

“Community and personal wreaths are welcome,” Heathcote RSL Sub-branch president Miles Humphrey said.

Servicemen and women will march along High Street, together with military vehicles, at 11.15am.

A lunch of meat and salads at $10 per person will be served from 11.30am.

“Throughout the afternoon we will have Two-up, refreshments and raffles,” Mr Humphrey said. “It is always an excellent day of commemoration.”
