FEDERAL Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters, visited Heathcote Bowling Club last week to unveil a new project funded under the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.

The funding stream aims to pay for small capital works projects that deliver social benefits to the community.

The Heathcote Bowling Club received $20,000 to replace their old audio equipment with new speakers and a microphone setup on the green.

“I’m glad to see the Heathcote Bowling Club receive funding for these important equipment upgrades that help create an even more accessible community space,” said Ms Chesters.

“It is vital that people in our community have accessible spaces available to them to meet and gather in our community and this project delivers just that.

“The Heathcote Bowling Club is one of 12 not-for-profit organisations across the Bendigo electorate to receive a share in $150,000 funding.”

The club offers a community space and is often used as a venue for c fundraisers, lunches and events, as well as playing host to tournament and social bowls.

Club secretary Duncan McGann said members were grateful for the funding.

“We very much appreciate the grant funding provided through Lisa Chester’s office for the new audio system,” he said.

“The system will allow the club to hold bigger tournaments.

“It is also an asset for the broader community, allowing the many groups who use our facilities to communicate with their audience more effectively.”
