EMERGENCY services volunteers joined the Heathcote Fire Brigade, Heathcote Lions Club, Pizzeria Montana and individuals to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal last week.
Along with $11,068 raised by a fundraiser at Pizzeria Montana, the town raised a total of $24,744.
“It was an awesome result,” said CFA volunteer Gary George, who helped to organise the collection.
“The total was about $10,000 higher than last year and we were thrilled with the final tally.
“We had a terrific start with the money raised by Andrew at Pizzeria Montana. Andrew’s generosity and that of the people who bought items at his auction was incredible.
“Along with CFA members, volunteers rattled tins, door-knocked and the fire truck drove through the streets on Good Friday on the same route as our Christmas Santa run.
“We ended up with $23,329.40, including a $2000 donation from the Lions Club and it was brought up to $24,744 with online donations.
“At a time when many budgets are stretched, it was wonderful to achieve this result for such a worthy cause.
“Sincere thanks to all who helped us reach this fantastic result.”
