SUNNY skies greeted 50 participants and 20 volunteers at the second McIvor Creek parkrun trial last weekend.
The trial was a key step before an official launch date can be confirmed.
Director Roy Munro said it was great to see the event finally happening.
“As long as we have volunteers, we will be able to continue,” he said.
“I am very pleased with the number of participants and volunteers who turned up.
“The event will be great for the town; another string in the community bow.
“It doesn’t cost anything and participants can bring their kids and dogs.
“Every weekend, thousands of people participate in parkrun all over the country.
“It is good not only for physical health but also mental health.
“Participants meet with others and make new friends and connections.
“Visitors from other towns and people passing through are all welcome to attend as well as holidaymakers from the nearby caravan park.

“I would like to thank everyone who turned up for the trials.
“We hope we will have an official launch date very soon.”
Every Saturday, participants walk, run or jog parkrun courses at more than 500 locations around Australia.
Ambassador Greg Leslie attended the trial and thanked the organisers for all their hard work.
“It has taken an incredible amount of work to get to this stage, and we look forward to confirmation of an official Heathcote parkrun,” he said.
Michelle Chapman said the proposed McIvor Creek Trail parkrun had reached an exciting milestone.
“We are currently awaiting confirmation of an official launch date from parkrun global and can now move confidently into the next phase of planning,” she said.
“A key step before launch is to ensure our volunteer team is well prepared and that the course operates smoothly and safely.
“Supporting our volunteers is a top priority, and your involvement will help create a welcoming and well-run experience for everyone.”
