THREE Heathcote community groups came together last week when Food Share made generous donations to SES Heathcote Unit and the RFDS Community Transport.

The $500 donations were made possible from funds raised at the Food Share Opp Shop.

“It is really great to see three not-for-profit community groups coming together,” said RFDS volunteer driver Mark Jeavons.

“We all pitch in to help each other, and this is a great example.”

SES Unit Controller Darren O’Connor said he couldn’t thank Food Share enough for their generosity.

“The donation will add to our fundraising efforts for a new 4WD Medium Rescue truck.

“The account is growing, and Community Bank Heathcote and District is still matching our efforts dollar for dollar.

“Thank you to everyone at Food Share.”

Volunteer liaison officer at the RFDS Transport Service Melodie Thompson said the donation was very much appreciated.

“We are very grateful to all the volunteers at Food Share,” she said.

“The money will go towards increasing our services in the area.”

The RFDS provides transport to people who would otherwise not be able to attend medical appointments.

Food Share president Glen Cullimore said he was glad Food Share was able to provide some help to the worthy organisations.

“It is great to be able to give back to others who do some much for our community,” he said.

Heathcote Food Share Opp Shop is at 78 High Street and is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
