PLENTY of shade and free entertainment saw a good attendance at the Heathcote Harvest Festival last Sunday.

Although organisers feared high temperatures might reduce numbers, attendance was good.

“It was a great day,” said Martin Cox from Tellurian Wines.

“Despite the hot weather and temperature warnings, it was wonderful to see so many people.

“Lots of locals supported the event and there was a really good vibe throughout.”

The festival was officially launched in 2022 after the success of a previous event called The Heathcote Community Festival in 2021.

As a prelude to the grape harvest, the festival celebrates local artisan producers.

Attendees relaxed in the shade at Barrack Reserves as they listened to free music from Miss May, the John Flanagan Duo and PLAYLUNCH.

There were lawn games and face painting for the kids.

Local wine, craft beer and spirit vendors, as well as a variety of food vans provided food and drinks to purchase.

“As well as the shade from the trees, we really appreciate the extra effort the stall holders made in providing umbrellas,” said Maree Hingston who has attended every festival.

“It’s lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

Jodi Marsh from Sanguine Estate said sales were going well, especially the Rosé.

“Anything on ice is very popular today.

“This is a really nice community festival.

“An inexpensive day out with no cost for families.”
