U3A Heathcote is offering a new group for anyone wanting to learn more about using mobile phones.

Basic Mobile Phone Use for Seniors with convenor Rosie Palibrk will start on Tuesday 5 May.

It will run from 10am-noon on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the guide hall.

Palibrk said she decided to convene the sessions after talking to fellow U3A members who said they were not confident using their phones.

“I’m not a guru,” she said, “but I am happy to help others to master the basics and become more confident.

“If there is anything that people want to find out about and I don’t know, I am prepared to learn so I can help.

“The sessions will cover arthritis aids to help you hold a mobile phone, powering on and off, volume control, ring tones and alerts, font size, screen contrast, electronic address books, making and receiving calls, and sending and receiving text messages.

“We will run at a pace that suits everyone.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions.

The group is free and no U3A membership is required for the first three sessions.
