PRESSURE will be high at Leitchville this Saturday as the Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DNL marks the 14th round in senior football.
It’s sixth against fifth as Leitchville Gunbower hosts Lockington Bamawm United from 2.20pm at Leitchville Recreation Reserve.
Just four points separates these teams, who are on the rebound from defeat.
The LG Bombers were beaten by 43 points at Huntly last Saturday as LBU could not stop Heathcote’s run to a 25-point victory in Lockington.
Back in round 5 it was the Jayden Howe-coached LBU which beat Leitchville Gunbower by 40 points.
Key players for the LBU Cats include Marcus Angove, Jesse Collins, Tyler Phillips and Bowden Stone.
The play of Blake and Jack Dye, Will Brereton and Nic Cattapan will be crucial to the Joel Donehue-coached Bombers taking the points this time.
Heathcote will be determined to prove its win at Colbinabbin in round 5 was no fluke when they host the Grasshoppers at Pigeon Park.
A win by a Saints team coached by Andrew Saladino, non-playing, and Liam Jacques, playing, will keep the heat on North Bendigo in the fight for a top-three finish.
Players to watch for Heathcote include Joey Beedle, Stefan Rasinac, and Dillon and Sean Williams.
The Linton Jacobs-coached Colbinabbin has the firepower of Brandyn Grenfell, Jai Carn and Alex Carr to test the Saints.
Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant will be back on its turf at Toolleen to take on Elmore.
In-form players for the Josh Hann and Cameron Carter-coached Blues include Jack Hickman, Brodie Leonard Shannon, Jett Nicholas and Deklan Wille.
The Luke Freeman-coached Elmore ended its winless run in a 70-51 win at home against White Hills last round.
Best players in the Bloods’ second win of the season were James and Joseph Harney, Matt O’Dwyer and Rhys Holmberg.
White Hills will be back at the Scott Street ground to take on North Bendigo.
It will be another massive test for a young Demons team coached by Brad McConnell and Lachie Sawyer.
Rested by the bye, North Bendigo’s strong on-ball group is likely to set up plenty of scoring chances.
The Harlowe Huntly Hawks have the bye.
