More than 100 submissions were received for this year’s Heathcote Film Festival.

Entries came from all corners of the world and represented a broad range of cultural perspectives and creative cinematic innovations.

Duncan McGann from the film festival committee said the profile of the festival continues to grow each year.

“Many of the submissions have already won awards and represent the best of short film creativity,” he said.

“The organising committee has been working hard behind the scenes to select the best of these, curating a program that balances humour, drama, and human interest, promising this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever.

“A highlight of last year’s festival was the introduction of a new category for emerging Australian filmmakers, shining a light on the next generation of storytellers.

“Some of these attended the festival and there was an infectious joy in the air as they proudly displayed their talents.

“We are proud that they can use our festival as a springboard to build their filmmaking profile.

“While the Heathcote festival is small by world standards, it is gaining credibility, both at home and abroad, as a place where filmmakers are assured of a professional recognition of their work.”

On Friday 28 August the popular Picnic and Popcorn event will return, followed by the Gala Dinner on Saturday 29 August.

Tickets for the festival are now on sale and are available at r
