NEW Holy Rosary Primary School deputy-principal Kate Ruck said she’s enjoying the chance to walk to work.

Ms Ruck, a Heathcote local, was formerly literacy leader at St Patrick’s Primary School at Kilmore.

“I enjoyed my time at Kilmore and I’m looking forward to this new challenge,” she said. “It’s great to be here. There are lots of familiar faces and families I already know.

“I feel very lucky to be able to work so close to home at a wonderful school.

“There is a great vibe here and the whole school community works well together.

“The small class sizes are great, allowing the opportunity to spend a lot of time with each student.”

Ms Ruck takes over from Vincent Ryan who has taken up the position of principal at St Mary’s Primary School at Rushworth.

“Vin gave me a very thorough handover which has helped me make an easy transition and a good start,” said Ms Ruck.

Holy Rosary principal Paul Dullard said he was pleased to welcome Ms Ruck to the school.

“Kate is a local and fits in beautifully with our school community,” he said. “Her strengths in literacy will be a great asset.

“We wish our former deputy Vin Ryan all the very best in his new position.

“I am sure he will do very well there, and Holy Rosary is still in great hands.”
