AS Mother’s Day approaches, it’s time to plan special meals, events and gifts for the important women in your life.

There’s no need to travel. In and around Heathcote there are a wide range of options.

Envy Distilling will be hosting Gin High Tea over the weekend with bookings available on Saturday 11 May and Sunday 12 May.

Each high tea comes with two glasses of gin for $85 per person or for the designated driver, with soft drink for $55 per person.

Bookings can be made on their website.

For a leisurely lunch with a good bottle of Shiraz, the Gallery Bistro at Heathcote Winery will be warm and cozy.

The gallery walls are lined with artwork by talented local artists.

Lunch bookings are essential as tables are limited. Phone: 5433 2595.

The Watering Hole will be serving lamb shanks with sweet potato mash and green beans for $75 per person.

“The meal includes a red or white wine, coffee and cake,” said proprietor Joan Stammers.

“Comfort food, perfect for special mums.”

If more casual dining is preferred, Heathcote boasts three pizza venues, two fish and chip shops and two bakeries.

For a that special gift, Swirls Gifts and Décor offer jewellery, candles, crystals and kitchenware.

The shop also has a range of fashionwear for all ages, including plus sizes.

Rutherford & Maine have personally sourced gifts, homeware and fashion, set in a classic country cottage with a garden courtyard.

You can stay for a coffee after browsing and four-legged friends are welcome in the courtyard with lots of pats and treats.

Heathcote Post Office and Newsagency isn’t just for stamps and newspapers. They also offer a range of gifts and cards.

“We have plenty of gift options for all kinds of mums,” said proprietor Rhonda Linnell.

“And if you need help our staff would love to help Dad and the kids find something special for Mum.”

If the special woman in your life likes cars, the second Heathcote Cars, Coffee and Bikes meet will take place in High Street on 12 May, between 9am and 12noon.

Buy a coffee from one of the many nearby outlets and browse the classic bikes and cars on show.
