DESPITE cold weather and threatening rain, enough volunteers signed up for the Heathcote McIvor Creek Trail parkrun to ensure the proposed event will become a reality.
Event director Roy Munro thanked all who braved the wintry conditions to sign up and view the course.
“Thank you, everyone,” he said.
“Parkrun will go ahead thanks to your support.
“We hope to be operating by the end of October or early November.”
Executive assistant and governance officer at Heathcote Health, Michelle Chapman, said there was still some work to do before parkrun can officially start.

“Thank you to all who signed up to volunteer,” she said.
“We now have enough volunteers for parkrun requirements, but more are always welcome.
“We have some work to do behind the scenes still, but we are looking forward getting parkrun up and running.”
Sue Pace was one of the people who signed up to volunteer.
“I’ve been retired for a few years,” she said.
“I need to do something to get out of the house so I volunteer for a few things around town, and it feels good.
“I get to meet lots of like-minded people.
“Parkrun is a good thing for Heathcote, and I am really pleased to be part of it.”
