FIVE Heathcote VICSES members and their families attended the Regional SES Awards function in Bendigo last weekend.

Approximately 150 SES members from the Loddon Valley Region were guests at the morning tea in the Bendigo RSL function room.

Heathcote SES volunteer Sally Duncan said the unit’s annual awards were held in Heathcote in the past but this year they joined with other units in the region.

“It was a great opportunity to meet with volunteers from other units,” she said.

“The morning tea and hospitality at Bendigo RSL was excellent.”

The Premier Jacinta Allan attended the awards and thanked SES members for their dedication to their respective communities.

“She also spoke about the importance of family support,” Duncan said.

Heathcote recipients for VICSES Long Service awards were: Aaron Plumridge (absent) – 10 years: Peter Duncan – 15 years; Mel Thompson – 15 years; Peter Zenz (absent) – 15 years and Steve Johnson (absent) 15 years.

The recipients of the Australian National Medal were: Des Hogan – 15 years; Clynton Robinson – 15 years and George Dimech – 35-year clasp.
