Smiles all round
COMMITTEE members hailed Heathcote Smiles Day a huge success as visitors came together to enjoy free attractions, food and activities last weekend.
It was the fourth annual event.
“It was fabulous to see so many smiling faces,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.
“This event is all about people and community.
“How fortunate we are to have these opportunities to come together and celebrate – the simplicity in being able to do just that, gather together.
“It is only a few years since this simple act of gathering together was beyond us as we lived with and through the worldwide pandemic.
“It was from that life impacting event that Dr Adel from Heathcote Primary Health/St Anthony’s Medical practice asked if we could come together as a community to provide an event that would see our community, and particularly the children, smile again.
“From that simple comment and commitment we are fortunate to have had great community groups and organisations come together to make it happen.
“The latest event had a health and wellbeing focus acknowledging that community and connection make big impacts on people’s health and wellbeing.
“Samuel Johnson gave everyone a wonderful insight into his charity Love Your Sister and his fight against cancer.
“Cancer is something that has touched many people and it was an opportunity for them to donate to the cause.”
Ms Forde thanked the event team, working group and sponsors who helped make the even a success.
“I would like to thank Heathcote Health and the volunteers from Community House, Heathcote Lions Club, Heathcote Primary Health, Community Bank, Heathcote Library, Mandalay Resources, Millers Custom Trailers and our Ambassador Charlie Miller,” she said.
“Thanks to everyone and the people who attended, the day was an outstanding success.”
