REVVING engines returned to Mia Mia for the second year running for the season opener of the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association.

Entrants travelled from as far as South Australia and New South Wales for the event.

“The rain held off and we had a great day,” said Tracey Peter who races with other family members.

“It was great to return to Mia Mia.

“Everyone has been good to us.

“Last year we organised the event in just four weeks, and we were really happy to come back.”

AROLMRA members range in age from seven to the oldest member in his eighties.

“We travel all over the country,” said Ms Peter.

Fine weather and a great crowd came together for the season opener or the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Association.

“Our next event will be in Yamba Queensland, and we travel all over Australia to different events.

“It is a great sport with everyone working in with each other.

“There were 65 competitors at Mia Mia with 15 travelling from South Australia.

“Racing was very competitive, and we had a great crowd of spectators.”

The AROLMRA began in 1988. The first race was held after five men in a small country pub in Harrietville challenged each other to a race around the local hills.

These days the AROLMRA is a non-profit organisation, run primarily for racing enthusiasts and their friends while raising funds for community organisations.
