Explore, Engage, Evolve this Senior Festival
THE 2024 Greater Bendigo Seniors Festival is set to be a week of celebration, community connection, and enrichment for older adults.
Running from October 6 to 13, this year’s festival, themed Explore Engage Evolve, promises an exciting array of events that cater to diverse interests of older adults, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
A standout event of the festival is the Showcase Concert featuring Amber Joy Poulton in ‘Honky Tonk Queens’ on Friday 11 October at 11am at the Capital, Bendigo.
Poulton, renowned for her hit theatre show Coal Miner’s Daughter, brings to life the legacy of country music’s first queens—Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Loretta Lynn.
This special event also marks the launch of the Ageing Well in Greater Bendigo video, highlighting the vibrant lives and contributions of older adults in the community.
Don’t miss the chance to enjoy classic hits like Jolene and Stand By Your Man while celebrating the spirit of ageing well. Tickets on sale now at The Capital Box Office or visit gotix.com.au.
For those looking to explore services and resources for older adults and people living with a disability, the Be Well Be Connected Expo – Heathcote Roadshow is a must-visit.
This free expo, funded by the City of Greater Bendigo and the Victorian Government, brings together a wide range of exhibitors showcasing aged care, community, and disability products and services. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet with service providers and advisors who can offer valuable insights and support.
Additionally, the Try Before You Ride events at the Bendigo Railway Station is perfect for those wanting to gain confidence in using public transport. This inclusive initiative, also supported by the Victorian Government, allows people of all abilities to familiarise themselves with public transport options in a supportive environment.
