Cummins supports Green’s IPL call
AUSTRALIAN all-rounder Cameron Green is poised to nominate for the Indian Premier League for the first time with riches possibly awaiting the twenty-three-year-old.
Following Pat Cummins’ decision to not play in next year’s tournament, it’s believed that Green could well become Australia’s most expensive buy in December’s auction.
Blessed with power-hitting, genuine pace with the ball and great hands in the field, Green could be the ultimate package in the shortest form of the game.
While Cummins himself would rather his star all-rounder wrap himself in cotton wool and focus purely on his Australia duties, he said there’s no way he could tell his younger teammate to not take the opportunity in front of him.
“Yeah potentially [Green will nominate for the IPL],” Cummins told SEN 1170 The Run Home.
“We’ll wait and see, I think the auction is a little while away. Selfishly as a captain, I’d love for him to save all of his energy for Australia.
“But how can you tell someone to say no to that kind of opportunity?”
The 2023 IPL Auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi, India.
