HEATHCOTE faces Harcourt in Saturday’s division two match in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant.

The Saints and Lions will play at Heathcote from 1.30pm.

It’s been a great start by Heathcote, which won last Saturday’s match at Serpentine 89-87.

The Saints marked just a fourth win in 13 hit-outs at Serpentine.

Bill Gardiner d R. Hasty 24-12, Adam Luxford lt D. Walker 21-23, Maurice Lee lt B. Long 18-28, and Chris Morcom d N. Tonkin 26-24.

In division six, Heathcote will make its way across to Strathfieldsaye to play Strathfieldsaye Maroon.

The Saints won the round two clash with Eaglehawk at Heathcote by 20 shots.

Peter Cunningham d L. Marshead 27-6, Lorraine Speirs lt C. Stephens 18-21, and Ron Barron d C. Harrison 20-18.

In midweek pennant, Heathcote marked its first win of the season as it scored a 24-shot win at home against Eaglehawk.

The Saints won the division three match, 83-59.

Dot Cutajar’s rink led by seven shots by the fourth end and went on for a 26-23 win against J. O’Shea.

Chris Morcom won the first three ends, but led by just two after 13 ends.

The Morcom rink powered on for a 31-17 win against T. Trewartha.

Lorraine Speirs won three of the first four ends and held an eight-shot lead on the 11th end.

The Saints dropped five shots on the next end, but fought back to win the last end for a 26-19 result against K. Tranter.

On Monday, Heathcote will be home for a 10am showdown with Woodbury.

Pennant practice on Thursdays starts at 4pm and will be followed by a meal.

A field of 20 played three games of pairs and triples on 8 October.

Winners were Lorraine Speirs (s), Greg Speirs and Ewan Munro on three wins, 42 points, +7 shots.

Runners-up were Rod Hanson (s), Ray Anderson and Ellis Knight on two wins, 43 points, +12 shots.

The jackpot was not won.

The men’s and women’s singles draw for club champion will be held after this Saturday’s pennant matches.

Sponsors Night will be held on 23 October at 6pm after pennant practice.
