HEATHCOTE makes its way down the Calder Highway this Saturday to play Castlemaine United in the Castlemaine District Cricket Association’s A-reserve match.

The round 14 match will start at 1pm on the Camp Reserve turf.

It is consecutive weeks where Heathcote has faced a group of Magpies from Castlemaine.

The Saints were drawn to play Castlemaine United on 31 January at Store Edge Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

The round was abandoned because of the heat.

Last Saturday the Saints defeated North Castlemaine at Store Edge Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

Saints’ captain Brad Polson won the toss and decided to bowl.

The visitors were held to 8-118 off 40 overs as Cale Polson (3-14), Fraser Maddren (2-21) and Nick Malavisi (2-30) led the attack.

After the early run out of opening batter Paddy Carmody it was Brad and Cale Polson who teamed for a 39-run stand.

An innings of 21 by Brad Polson ended with the score on 51. Cale Polson was dismissed 17 runs later on 29.

Two sixes and two fours were highs in Tim Gleeson’s knock of 33 runs.

Damian Jacques was unbeaten on 20 as the Saints reached 4-119 in the 28th over.

Heathcote’s lineup in its latest win included Ruby Demeo in her first A-reserve contest.

A big summer for Demeo includes under-18s for Strathdale-Maristians Blue and Women’s Premier Thirds with Greenvale Kangaroos.

Castlemaine United is on the rebound from a 48-run loss to Maiden Gully Marist.

The Castlemaine United attack includes Alexander Hardwick-Young, Kostya Hale and Beau Ely.

Leading run-scorers in the latest hit-out at Bake Mate Senior Oval at Marist College in Maiden Gully were Brian Brasher, Beau Ely, Kyle Judd and Patrick Brasher.

In B-grade, Heathcote will be on home turf at Store Edge Park to play Campbells Creek Colts from 1pm.
