Saints meet Serpentine in Shield clash

A SHIELD is up for grabs when Heathcote faces Serpentine in Saturday’s division two match in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant bowls.

The Saints and Bears meet on Heathcote’s greens at 1.30pm.

Heathcote takes an eight-game winning streak into this match which is the best run by a Saints’ line-up in more than 30 years.

Heathcote scored a 78-68 victory at White Hills last Saturday.

In division six, Heathcote will play at Eaglehawk this Saturday.

The Saints struggled after the half-time break as North Bendigo won last Saturday’s match at Heathcote by 29 shots.

In midweek pennant, Heathcote takes on Woodbury in Monday’s play at Bendigo Club in Strathdale’s Park Street from 10am.

The Saints scored a 14-shot win at Eaglehawk last Monday.

A 63-49 victory kept Heathcote in fifth place.

After the Hawks drew level on the 18th end the Lorraine Speirs-skipped rink won the last three ends to win by four shots.

Dot Cutajar’s rink bowled consistently to record a 10-shot win.

Down by five after 13 ends, Chris Morcom’s rink won the next five ends.

A shot for the Borough on the last made it 15-all.

Social bowls on November 26 was won by Eileen O’Brien (s) and Karen Royal on two wins, a draw, 39 points, +17 shots.

The jackpot was not won.

Leaders after two rounds in Tuesday Night Social Pennant were Brigade Bowlers, Pirates and Spring Plains.

The competition has drawn 19 teams.

Christmas break-up will be held after training on December 11. To assist with catering members are to put their names on the attendance sheet in the clubrooms.
