WHEN Maureen Brennan opened the doors of Sassi 17 years ago she never expected to still be here but not only is the premier homewares, gift and clothing store in Millicent still in business, it has recently moved to larger premises.

The new 14 George Street home has allowed Maureen and her team expand their range with clothing the most notable addition to what was originally a niche giftware shop.

A loyal customer base, a passion for the industry and a willingness to continue to evolve as a business has seen Maureen keep Sassi at the forefront of the retail sector in the Limestone Coast.

And that evolution will see the next chapter for Sassi being heading online, embracing the fact that while bricks and mortar and face-to-face personalised service will always have a place and is what makes Sassi so special, there is a new generation of shoppers who sit in their longue room on their iPad to experience their retail therapy.

“I just love what I do,” Maureen said. “We love sourcing beautiful products and giving our community the best shopping experience possible.”
