A welcoming space for all
MCKAY Children’s Centre is a proudly integrated early learning service based in the heart of Penola, providing Kindergarten, Long Day Care, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) and Vacation Care for more than 30 years. Supporting families across a 50km radius, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and empowered to learn..
As a not-for-profit centre, McKay Children’s Centre Childcare & OSHC is guided by a Governing Council made up of community members who actively use our services. This ensures decisions are always made with a strong child-led focus and a deep understanding of local family needs.
Our dedicated educators strive to create meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence and growth. Through hands-on, inquiry-based programming, children are encouraged to explore, discover and direct their own learning journey in ways that nurture their individual strengths and interests.
Within our Long Day Care service, we offer three age-specific programs: Kabirs for children aged 0–2 years, Kurras for children aged 2–3 years, and Turanggals for children over 3 years. Our Kindergarten currently provides a 4-year-old program with mid-year enrolments available, and from 2027 we are excited to introduce a 3-year-old Kindergarten program in line with the South Australian Department for Education initiative.
At McKay Children’s Centre, we recognise that quality education begins with quality educators. Our experienced leadership team mentors and supports junior staff and students, while fostering a culture of ongoing professional development. Regular staff meetings and dedicated pupil free days allow our team to continually strengthen their knowledge, collaboration and commitment to delivering the highest standard of care and education for every child.
