Taste Festival to host food photography workshop at gallery

PHOTOGRAPHY and food come together at the Naracoorte Art Gallery in a short workshop on Taste Festival day this Saturday.

All that is needed is for participants to bring their mobile phone and Naracoorte photographers Tony Lees and Diana Vine will share their expertise.

Gallery Board members Julie Earl, Adair Dunsford, Sharyn Hansen, Chrissy Jardine and Tamara Joukoff will each stage a still life arrangement using food and wine for photographers to practise their skills.

Still life is a genre of art featuring arrangements of everyday objects which are either natural such as fruit and flowers or human made items including drinking glasses, books and vases.

For the Taste Festival event, the still life works to be photographed will be placed in different galleries and rooms in the complex to provide a variety of light and settings.

The arrangements include fruit and vegetables, various wines, cocktails, cheeses and accessories.

Tony and Diana will provide hints, suggest techniques and improve skills in those attending.

To complete the session, participants will be given the chance to share their photos with the group or provide a copy to the Art Gallery.

The Foodie Photos workshop begins at 2pm and will run for 45 minutes at the Gallery at 91 Ormerod St.

The cost is a gold coin donation and bookings will be appreciated but not essential.
