THE City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund Committee has provided almost $12,000 in funding to support the delivery of specialised coaching clinics for junior participants across the region.

Member organisations of the fund were invited to apply for financial assistance to support specialised coaching opportunities for junior players, coaches of junior teams, and junior umpires.

The following organisations were successful in receiving funding:

Lakes Junior Tennis Association – $1900

Mount Gambier Netball Association – $1800

Mount Gambier and District Pony Club – $2000

West Gambier Football/Netball Club – $1650

Basketball Mount Gambier – $4400

Junior Sports Assistance Fund Presiding Member Cr Lynagh said the fund’s expanded capacity this year enabled a broader distribution of support.

“The financial assistance approved will enable these organisations to provide high-quality coaching clinics for their junior players, coaches and umpires,” Cr Lynagh said.

Cr Lynagh said the initiative plays an important role in strengthening grassroots sport and supporting development pathways for young people in the community.

“We hope this funding initiative supports our member organisations in delivering high-quality programs and development opportunities for young people across our region, and we wish them continued success,” he said.

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund is a joint initiative of the City of Mount Gambier, the District Council of Grant and local affiliated sporting organisations. For more information visit www.mountgambier.sa.gov.au/JSAF
