Ashby takes out third round of memorial trophy

THE weather was not looking promising for the Blue Lake Golf Club ladies on Wednesday but it ended up proving to be quite mild with a couple of misty showers for the 3rd Round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Trophy sponsored by Callum Morrison Construction.

The stableford competition saw 24 women vying for the opportunity to get their name on the coveted trophy.

Even though the weather was kind the course played hard being very heavy underfoot after the recent rainfall and that was reflected in the scores.

Division One winner Josie Ashby signed for 31 points off her 21 handicap scoring three three-point pars on 1st, 2nd and 5th holes in her outward 16 points coming home with two three-point pars on 15th and 16th holes on her 15 points.

Runner up was Rosemary Martland with 30 points off her 14 handicap with splits of 15/15 that Included pars on 4th, 9th and 14th holes. T

hird on the podium was Annette Ford 29 points off her 27 handicap with four three-pointers in her splits of 13/16.

Division Two winner was Carol Downing 34 points off her 30 handicap with splits of 16/18 recording two three-pointers with only one pickup on her scorecard.

Runner up Bev Pascoe signed for 29 points off her 34 handicap with three three-pointers in her splits of 14/15.

Third was Sophie Johnson 28 points playing off a 41 handicap scoring two three-pointers and a fine four point par on the dog-leg 9th in her splits of 16/12.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 2nd hole winners were Ronda Edwards and Lyn Gill.

BB9 Carol Downing and chip-in ferrets scored by Dally Houlihan 5th, Vivienne Wilson 6th, Carol Melhuish 8th, Cherryl Hill 11th, Ronda Edwards 12th, Lesley McPherson 13th.

Wild weather did ensure there was no ladies event on the weekend.
