Myers returns to course in great form

AS the frost and fog cleared making way for some sunshine at the Blue Lake Golf club last week as a smaller than usual field of 22 women teed off in the second round of the Short Course Trophy sponsored by Grant and Dianne Perryman.

With only two more rounds for competitors to be in the running to get their name on the trophy the day’s scores were very competitive.

As explained previously handicaps are reduced determined by Golflink and the par of the course was 65.

After a stint away in North Queensland Helen Myers was the winner in Division One after a countback from Carol Downing both signing for nett 68.

Myers played off an 8 handicap and had 74 off the stick.

Downing played off 19 with 87 strokes.

Myers had eight pars on her scorecard in her splits of 39/37, Downing had pars on 1, 3, 7 and 9th holes in her 41/46 splits.

Third placegetter was Karen Panagopoulos nett 71 after a countback with Geraldine Scott. Panagopoulos 81/10/71 had five pars included in her 41/40 splits.

Lyn Gill was the winner in Division Two with the score of the day, an awesome nett 60, off her reduced 36 handicap, scoring pars on 5, 8 and 16th holes in her 45/51 splits, six strokes under par on her outward nine and one over on the inward nine.

Lee Anderson also back refreshed from her overseas holiday took the second place voucher with 90/24/66 after forcing a countback with Carol Melhuish also signing for nett 66.

Anderson scored pars on 10th and 14th holes with splits of 48/42, 3rd placed Melhuish had splits of 47/44 with pars on 2nd and16th holes.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on 16th winners were Myers (1mtr) and Kristy Janeway (in hole).

Chip-in ferrets were scored by Sharyn Ferguson 5th, Janeway 16th, Gill 1st, 9th and 16th.JULY 4 RESULTS

Seventeen women took part in a par competition and unsurprisingly, at this time of year conditions are heavy underfoot and certainly add an extra element to the challenges of a par round where mistakes are unforgiving on the scorecard.

The winner was Helen Stratford with +2 able to keep those mistakes to a minimum.

Playing off 23 her outward nine saw steady play with +2 and all square on the inward, signing for five pluses, 12 squared and three scrubs overall.

Carol Downing took the second placed voucher all square to the card, playing off 32, her scorecard also showed steady golf with +1 on the outward and -1 on the inward with three pluses, 12 squared and three scrubs.

Colleen Tilley was third -2 off her 45 handicap, her scorecard showed three pluses, 10 squared and five scrubs.

Ronda Edwards-3c/b and Karen Panagopoulos were in the ball rundown.

Nearest to the on the fifth was Helen Stratford (7.56) BB9 Colleen Tilley.
