THREE Limestone Coast events have secured South Australian Government funding through the latest round of the Regional Event Fund.

The State Government supports the development of new and innovative regional events and growth of existing events, while driving visitation and economic stimulus across regional South Australia.

Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations this year and the 2027 Coonawarra Fringe and 2027 Generations in Jazz are the three events that will enjoy the cash boost.

Funding is offered across two event categories – Established Event Funding and Development Event Funding – and event organisers could apply for up to three years’ funding, to the value of $50,000 per year for an Established Event, and up to $20,000 per year for a Development Event.

Tourism Minister Emily Bourke said regional events were vital for local communities, encouraging visitors to explore South Australia by providing a platform to showcase what makes their part of the state so unique.

“There are significant flow-on benefits from these events for regional economies, from supporting local tourism operators, accommodation and hospitality providers to hire car companies, main street shops and everything in between,” Minister Bourke said.

“The events supported by the Regional Event Fund highlight what makes South Australia a must-visit destination – good food and drinks, natural wonders, rich history, and artistic talent – all delivered with authentic hospitality.

“I encourage South Australians to check out what’s on in their backyard, stay a few nights, and discover the simple pleasures of South Australia.”

The Coonawarra Vignerons Association’s Heidi Guyett welcomed the windfall.

“The Regional Event Fund support is a welcome investment in one of South Australia’s iconic regional wine festivals,” Mrs Guyett said.

“This funding will help us continue to grow Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations as a key driver of visitation to the Limestone Coast, encouraging visitors to stay longer, explore more and experience the very best of our region.

“Festival goers can look forward to an exciting three-week program celebrating everything that makes Coonawarra unique – from our exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and premium food and wine experiences to behind-the-scenes winery events, live music sessions, bespoke tastings and opportunities to meet the passionate people behind our wines.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to Coonawarra this October.”

This year’s Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations run for the month of October, while the Coonawarra Fringe Festival is in February next year and Generations in Jazz will run from April 30 to May 2 next year.
