Mayor’s Christmas Appeal

Group Training Employment Board Chair Ray Herbert & Field Operation Manager Kyle Gleed present a donation of $2500 to Mayor Lynette Martin

THE Mount Gambier Community Mayor’s Christmas Appeal has currently raised more than $30,000 thanks to the generosity of local donors, with five windows of the Old Town Hall lit up to celebrate the progress so far.

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin urged the community to keep the momentum going.

“Every dollar donated helps provide food hampers, gift vouchers and presents for families who are struggling,” Mayor Martin said. “When we give, we’re not just lighting up a window, we’re lighting up lives.

“Let’s keep going and show what Mount Gambier can achieve when we come together.”

Demand for assistance continues to rise as the cost-of-living places greater pressure on households.

Donations go directly to local agencies Uniting Care, ac.care, St Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army, with all funds raised distributed through the Christmas Cheer Program.

“Thank you to everyone who has already contributed. Your kindness is making a real difference,” Mayor Martin said. “If you haven’t donated yet, now is the perfect time. Every act of generosity counts.”

The appeal has recently been granted Deductible Gift Recipient status, meaning donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, making it easier than ever to help.
