THE Mount Gambier Fantasy Medieval Fair is set to welcome its first-ever international Medieval World Music sensation.

Direct from Hungary, Bordó Sárkány (The Burgundy Dragon) will descend upon the Mount Gambier Showgrounds on April 18 and 19, as part of their debut Australian tour.

Known across Europe for their explosive fusion of 16th-century folk and modern rock energy, Bordó Sárkány brings a massive wall of sound featuring authentic Hungarian bagpipes, fiddles, and thunderous percussion.

Their presence adds a new layer of international prestige to the Fair’s fifth year of celebrating history, myth, and magic.

Bordó Sárkány doesn’t just play music; they create a medieval riot.

Their repertoire blends traditional Hungarian and European melodies with a Medieval-Rock pulse that resonates with modern audiences.

“We are incredibly excited to bring our ‘Burgundy’ sound to the Limestone Coast,” Roland Dickmann, band leader and master of the Hungarian bagpipe, said. “The Fantasy Medieval Fair is the perfect stage for our music—surrounded by knights, artisans, and the incredible community of Mount Gambier.”

2026 Fair Highlights:

* Tavern Performances: High-energy sets throughout the weekend that bridge the gap between ancient folklore and modern rock.

* The 2026 Medieval Feast (Saturday, April 18): Rumours are swirling that the band will provide the musical heartbeat for the Fair’s signature adults-only banquet, providing an immersive experience of “feasting and revelry.”

* Meet the Instruments: Fans will have the rare chance to see authentic instruments like the hurdy-gurdy, koboz (lute), and Medieval bagpipes up close during community interactions at the Showgrounds.

The Mount Gambier Fantasy Medieval Fair is the Limestone Coast’s premier historical event, featuring armoured combat, jousting, archery, and a sprawling artisan market.

Produced by Limestone Coast Festivals & Events Inc., the fair attracts thousands of patrons who step back in time within the stunning volcanic landscape of Mount Gambier.
