DO you know someone making a real difference in our community?

The District Council of Grant are calling on residents to help recognise our district’s unsung heroes by nominating them for a 2026 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award.

The Awards celebrate individuals, groups and events that contribute to a stronger, more vibrant community through areas such as education, health, environment, business, sport, arts and community services.

District Council of Grant Mayor Kylie Boston said it was important to acknowledge those who make a positive impact.

“The Awards are our chance to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond making our community a strong and vibrant place to live, work and play,” Mayor Boston said.

Nominations are open for the following categories:

• Young Citizen of the Year

• Citizen of the Year

• Community Event of the Year

• Active Citizenship

“If you know a person, group or event that has made a real difference in our community, nominating them for an Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award is a great way to recognise their efforts and say thank you,” Mayor Boston said.

Award nominees and winners will be celebrated and presented with certificates at a private event on Monday, January 26.

Nominations close 5pm Sunday, November 16.
