Shining a light on South West Victoria
GLENELG Libraries is delighted to host Ballarat-based journalist and author Adam McNicol for two special events celebrating his latest book from Ten Bag Press, The Western District: A Journey Through South-West Victoria.
McNicol, founder of Ten Bag Press and author of several acclaimed regional histories including The Mallee and The Wimmera, will share stories and insights from this stunning photographic and written documentary.
The book explores the history and character of south-west Victoria’s small towns, including Casterton and Portland.
Following the railway lines through the Western District, McNicol’s work captures the essence of communities such as Beeac, Bessiebelle, Digby, Camperdown, Koroit, Merino, Terang, and many more.
Glenelg Libraries library coordinator Denis McDonald said Adam’s work beautifully captures the spirit of south-west Victoria, weaving together history, photography, and storytelling in a way that resonates with our communities.
“We’re thrilled to offer residents the chance to hear these stories firsthand and celebrate the unique character of our region,” Mr McDonald said.
