Walking the Seasons returns
STUDENTS across the region have been busy back out on Country this term with the Walking the Seasons program being conducted in eleven schools this year.
The Walking the Seasons program is a collaborative program delivered by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board and Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation.
First Nations Elders lead an immersive on Country experience to give students a deeper understanding of First Nations culture, supported by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board Education team students make observations across the landscape of seasonal change.
Landscape educator Mel Holtz said it was fantastic to see the program grow each year with the Limestone Coast school community supporting the program.
“The feedback from schools involved with the program has been amazing, students really embrace being out on country,” Ms Holtz said.
“Connecting students with Country and culture provides an authentic learning environment with a local context. Educators are provided with a list of resources that help support the curriculum planning making this a comprehensive program for students in middle and upper years of Primary School.”
