Wattle Range Council has unveiled its Youth Week & school holiday programs

WATTLE Range Council’s 2026 Youth Week program will run from April 9–17 alongside the Autumn Full Throttle in Wattle School Holiday Program.

Together, they offer a full schedule of free activities for young people and families across the region.

Council’s Youth Week features a mix of free events for ages 12 to 25, including creative arts, gaming and outdoor activities such as disc golf and paddleboarding – all designed to encourage participation, wellbeing and connection.

Running from April 10–26, the Autumn Full Throttle in Wattle program complements Youth Week with a broad mix of activities aimed at keeping school-aged children active and entertained throughout the holidays.

Both programs will officially launch with a community movie night at Penola Primary School on April 10, delivered in partnership with the Stand Like Stone Foundation.

Other activities include free entry to the Beachport National Trust Museum for over 60s and school aged children which is being offered as a joint effort with council’s Celebrate Seniors and Full Throttle Program.

Wattle Range Council’s director of development services Emma Clay it was a great initiative for grandparents to enjoy meaningful experiences with their grandchildren.

Four road safety sessions will be held at the Millicent Road Safety School courtesy of SAPOL, while a learn-to-skate session in Penola and Skate Park League event in the Millicent Skate Park will be delivered by YMCA Action Sports.

Additional fun activities include the much-anticipated Rivoli Bay Jetties Junior Fishing Competition, Australian Bush Buddies at Hatherleigh Hall, Wacky Wednesday craft sessions at the Millicent Public Library and the Beachport and Penola Visitor Information Centres.

The Millicent Public Library will also host a full program of activities ranging from arts and crafts to technology and construction-based sessions.

Ms Clay said the combined programs reflect council’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people.

“By delivering programs such as Youth Week and Full Throttle in Wattle, we are creating more opportunities for young people to connect, learn new skills and enjoy free, high-quality activities close to home,” Ms Clay said.

The Wattle Range Youth Week activities are funded by the SA Youth Week program which supports events in regional South Australia.

Places for some sessions are limited, and bookings are essential. Full program details and locations, are available on Council’s website at Youth Week activities in Wattle Range and Autumn Full Throttle in Wattle School Holiday Program
