Heaver wins fourth monthly medal

LAST Wednesday 42 ladies played a variety of competitions in beautiful autumn weather at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

The fairways were heavy with dew to begin with but they dried out well and the greens were finally running true and fast.

Thirty-seven ladies played in a Stroke Round amalgamating the Monthly Medal, 2nd Qualifying Round Handicap Championships, 2nd Round International Bowl and Putting.

In Division 1, Helen Heaver had the best score of the day winning her fourth Monthly Medal with a one under her handicap (20) with 44/48=92=Nett 72.

Incorporated in Helen’s score was a birdie 4 on the Par 5, 17th Hole plus three pars on the front nine.

One stroke behind her playing partner (Helen), taking out second placing was Mardi Goodes (Handicap 23) 49/47=96=Nett 73.

Mardi parred the last two holes, however, the 2nd and 11th detracted from her good score.

Division 2 winner was Vicki Clark (Handicap 25) with a score of 49/50=99=Nett 74.

Vicki started off slowly but gradually built up her game with pars recorded on the Par 3 on the 6th and 16 Holes.

Second placing in Division 2 was consistent player Kate McCormick (Handicap 26) with 48/52=100=Nett 74, losing on a countback.

Kate carded two pars on her card and played 1 over her handicap.

Seven balls were given out in the ball rundown and went from Hope Bliss Nett 73 down to the lucky Carol Smith on Nett 76.

The Putting Competition was won by Jess Parsons with an admirable 27 putts.

Pro Shot, with a great shot, went to Linda Boylan who collected three balls.

The speciality prizes for 2nd Shot on the Par 5, 15th Hole – A Grade with an absolute unbeatable two shots went to Janina Morrision, B Grade Vicki Clark and C Grade to long standing member Lyn Hudson.

Played in conjunction to the Stroke Round, five Ladies opted to play a Stableford Competition and the winner was Lynley Gray with 28 points.APRIL 5 RESULTS

A Stroke Round was held last Saturday with 21 ladies competing and first place winner was Vicki Clark (Handicap 24) 48/44=92 off the stick, Nett 68.

Vicki played very well and had five strokes under her handicap and her score also included three pars.

The handicapper will be looking at her scorecard very closely to lower her handicap for her next game.

Second placing went to Helen Gregory (Handicap 17) with 42/48=90 off the Stick, Nett 73.

Helen played very well,particularly on the front nine, her scorecard registered five pars.

Winners of a ball each from the ball rundown went to Carol Smith Nett 75 down to Chris Morrison Nett 77.

NTP was won by Heather Barry and NTP on the Par 3, 16th Hole went to Leanne Hunt.
