Oberer & Case secure victory

THE 3rd Round of the Metro Bakery and Cafe Silver Salver was well attended when 30 women teed off at the Blue Lake Golf Club on April 2 in mild autumn weather.
The winner, Jaynee Oberer, is enjoying her stint in Division One over the past few weeks and was happy to take the top place voucher after a countback with Cherryl Hill after both signing for +1.
Oberer played off a 28 handicap and scored par pluses on the 2nd and 15th holes adding further pluses on the 3rd, 10th and 13th holes.
Hill also becoming a regular on the podium played off 25 and scored par pluses on the 5th, 11th and 15th coupled with other pluses on the 3rd and 6th holes.
Helen Myers (18) came in square to the card after par pluses on the 3rd and 15th only registering two pickups.
It was pleasing to see Rose Case (45) on top of the Division Two podium after signing all square to her card after three pluses on the outward nine holes and five on the inward.
Another regular in the winner’s circle the runner up was Janine Dunn (34) posting 2-down on the outward nine to charge home to score four pluses on the inward nine forcing a countback with Carolyn Melhuish (37) also signing for 2-down.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 14th winners were Division One Oberer (.80cms) and Division Two Lyn Annand (1.52).
Bernadette Pedlar was the pro- shot winner on the 5th ( .42cms). Chip-in ferret prizes went to Lucy Richards 1st, Ronda Edwards 6th and Lee Anderson 11th.
MARCH 28 RESULTS
A stableford competition saw a field of 27 women taking to the fairways and it was Kim Smith showing the way scoring an impressive 41 points off her 35 handicap, splits of 19/22 included five three-pointers and three-four pointers and she has been slowly reducing that handicap and will see another drop before her next outing.
Wendy Burley forced a countback with Smith after also signing for 41 points.
Smith had splits of 19/22 from 8 three-pointers and Burley off her 43 handicap had splits of 24/17 that included a four-pointer on the 1st, five-pointer on the 5th along with three three-pointers taking the second prize voucher.
Helen Stratford posting a good score of 39 points after a countback with Karyn Coon 39 and Cherryl Hill 39.
Off her 21 handicap Stratford settled for third place recording a par on the 2nd in her 17 points on the outward nine, finishing with par three-pointers on the 11th, 12th, 15th and a four-pointer on the 18th in her 22 points homeward bound.
Fourth was Karen Coon, fifth Cherryl Hill and sixth Julie Campbell 36 points.
Nearest to the pin and also the mixed pro- shot on the 5th was Bev Pascoe (1mtr) making a birdie along with Burley also with a birdie on the 5th
