RUOT Monyyong, a 210cm forward, is the latest player to put pen to paper for the Castec Rural Pioneers for the 2026 NBL1 South campaign.

Monyyong arrives in Mount Gambier following a strong season with the Dandenong Rangers in NBL1 South, where he showcased his presence in the paint, averaging 17.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.3blocks per game, solidifying himself as one of the league’s premier rim protectors.

His combination of size, athleticism, and defensive instincts make him an exciting addition to the Pioneers’ frontcourt.

Across his professional stops, Monyyong has consistently delivered impact numbers — including standout performances in the Dominican Republic where he averaged 18.9 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, and in the Vietnamese VBA with 16.5 points, 19.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks.

His ability to control the glass, alter shots, and finish around the rim has translated across multiple leagues, highlighting the value he will bring to the Pioneers’ system.

The Pioneers are confident Monyyong’s defensive presence and interior scoring will elevate the team’s versatility and physicality heading into the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Head coach Pete Godfrey was excited to have Monyyong join the Pioneers program, highlighting his growth throughout last season and the significant impact he expects Ruot to bring to the Pioneers’ frontcourt this season.

“Ruot had an impressive debut season in NBL1 South with very solid stats, and he continued to improve as the season progressed, finishing in stellar form with 19 and eight in his final few games,” Godfrey said.

“He’ll be a great addition to our front line in ’26 with elite shot blocking and shot-changing ability on the defensive end, and a level of athleticism that allows him to get out on the break offensively.

“Imports traditionally perform even better in their second season, so I’m optimistic about Ruot’s potential impact in the South.”

Monyyong said he was thrilled to bet joining the Mount Gambier Pioneers.

“Excited to be joining the Pioneers and becoming part of this community,” he said. “I played here last year and the atmosphere was unreal the fans really show up and bring the energy. Can’t wait to put jersey on and win some games.

The Castec Rural Pioneers will tip off their 2026 NBL1 South campaignsoon, with further announcements on roster signings and pre-season activities to be released soon.
